Tourist decline in 2009
A restaurant owner told me that there had been a tough season in Ibiza in 2009. The decline was 10-15% in visitors compared to 2008. The British tourist were the main problem, a declining pound compared to the euro and the financial crisis were the probable causes for a decline of 20-25% British tourists compared to 2008.
Will they be back for this?
A lot of shops and restaurants had to close up early in the summer due to not being profitable. Now Ibiza hopes for a speedy recovery, in 2010.
