Ibiza Airport is located appx. 8 km southwest of Ibiza Town. It’s the main point of entry to the island. 95% of all tourists arriving Ibiza, do it by plane.
The airport is the entry port to tourists’ cheap holidays in Ibiza.
85% of the air traffic at the airport occures in the peak season between May and October.
History of the airport
The airport was established as a millitary airport during the Spanish Civil War in 1936-1939. In 1958 the airport was opened to connect Ibiza with Mallorca, Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid.
In the 1960s the airport welcomed its first international flight.
